Swept away by wildebeestes!
Well, not quite. But that's what I considered saying back in August, when I started a post to explain my (then) four-month-long absence from this blog. I had just gotten back from a safari trip to Kenya, where the wildebeeste migration was in full swing, and in the afterglow of that sublime interruption to the normal, I thought that maybe, just maybe, I could get back into the swing of things with Wallet Mouth.
Never did finish that post.
So, the truth is more prosaic: I got a job in April that nearly swallowed me whole. And although the stress on that front calmed considerably after about four months, life was still (and is still) a crazy juggling act. And the inertia of not doing something is powerful.
But I think I'm finally over the hump! As my father-in-law says, it just wasn't the right time... and then it is.
All for now, but I'll be back soon. In the meantime, check out the post I just wrote for my friend Todd's awesome new blog, Bernalwood, about the neighborhood we share in San Francisco.
